Revision Letter Number Four Hundred Thirty-Nine

 

This BPPM revision includes the following changes:

Classification and Reclassification 60.02

This revision updates the procedures for requesting position reviews, classifications, and reclassifications of administrative professional (AP) and civil service positions. The changes reflect the new Online Position Description and Recruitment System (OPDRS) processes.

Recruitment and Selection of Faculty Personnel 60.11

This revision updates the procedures for recruiting and selecting faculty personnel. The changes reflect the new OPDRS processes and the removal of the Position and Travel Exemption Request System (PTERS).

Administrative Professional Salary Determination and Adjustment 60.12

This revision updates the procedures for AP salary determinations and adjustments. The changes reflect the new OPDRS processes and the removal of PTERS. The changes also update the list of executive-level appointments requiring authorization by the President or the Provost and Executive Vice President, in accordance with current University practices.

Recruitment and Selection of Administrative Professional Personnel 60.17

This revision updates the procedures for recruiting and selecting AP personnel. The changes reflect the new OPDRS processes, the removal of PTERS, and guidelines in the online HRS Staff Recruitment ToolKit.

Recruitment and Selection of Classified Positions 60.18

This revision updates the procedures for recruiting and selecting classified positions. The changes reflect the new OPDRS processes and guidelines in the online HRS Staff Recruitment ToolKit.

Project Employment–Civil Service 60.23

This revision updates the procedures for appointing civil service employees to project positions. The changes reflect the new OPDRS processes and guidelines in the online HRS Staff Recruitment ToolKit.

Establishing Salary Step, Periodic Increment Date, and Probation or Trial Service for Civil Service Employees 60.29

This minor amendment clarifies that the appointing authority submits a justification through OPDRS to request to appoint a new employee above the minimum step in the salary range of the designated civil service classification.

Faculty and Administrative Professional Personnel Leave 60.56

This revision adds provisions for faith or conscience holidays and revises the description of how sick leave is earned by faculty and administrative professionals.

Civil Service Employee Leave 60.57

This revision adds provisions for faith or conscience holidays.

Travel Authority 95.05

This revision updates the Travel Authority (TA) form and procedures as follows:

  • In-advance conference registration payments are now processed by Accounts Payable, unless paid by purchasing card.
  • The department must indicate when travel is funded by a third party and name the applicable entity.
  • If a research investigator receives any Public Health Service (PHS)-regulated funding (e.g., from a PHS entity or a non-PHS source that has adopted the PHS regulations), the traveler is directed to submit an online SFI Travel Disclosure through MyResearch. Users are directed to the ORA Conflict of Interest website for instructions and a list of complying non-PHS entities.
  • The responsible dean or director may request an exception to the employees-only policy to provide a travel advance to a nonemployee student and must indicate the 17A account that will support any outstanding balance of funds.
  • The minimum dollar amount for a travel advance is increased from $85 to $129.
  • Field names for traveler’s name and signature are updated.
  • The instruction for travelers to route TAs to Travel Services to obtain rental cars is removed.
