Instructions are provided in this section.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"two_0\">2.0&nbsp; Network ID<\/h3>\n<p>A Network ID (NID) is a unique identifier that provides access to computing and network resources at WSU.<\/p>\n<p>Information Technology Services (ITS) requests that WSU faculty, staff, and students use the following self-service websites to create Network IDs and\/or update Network ID passwords:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/its.wsu.edu\/csd\/\">Crimson Service Desk<\/a> (to request a Network ID)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/login.wsu.edu\/app\/UserHome\">Okta User Home<\/a> (to update Network ID passwords)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Network ID identifies the individual to University network services.<\/p>\n<p>Assignment of a Network ID does not in itself provide access to University computer systems. A user must request specific authorization to access each system required.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"three_0\">3.0&nbsp; Form Instructions<\/h3>\n<p>Complete a Network Services Account Request to obtain, change, or delete one or more accounts per individual.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"three_1\">3.1&nbsp; Completing the Form<\/h4>\n<p>Most sections of the form are self-explanatory.<\/p>\n<h5>3.1.a&nbsp; WSU ID Number<\/h5>\n<p>Completion of WSU ID Number is required before the request may be processed.<\/p>\n<h6>3.1.a.i&nbsp; Affiliates<\/h6>\n<p>The University assigns WSU ID Numbers to qualified affiliates requesting Network IDs.<\/p>\n<h6>3.1.a.ii&nbsp; New Employees<\/h6>\n<p>A new employee is assigned a WSU ID Number when Human Resource Services processes the applicable Workday Staffing business processes. (See the Workday Knowledge Base for applicable instructions.)<\/p>\n<h5>3.1.b&nbsp; Changes<\/h5>\n<p>For changes to a Network ID, see <a href=\"#exception\">Exception to Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>3.1.c&nbsp; Terminations<\/h5>\n<p>Network IDs are permanent and are not terminated.<\/p>\n<h5>3.1.d&nbsp; Authorization<\/h5>\n<p>Each request for an affiliate Network ID must be signed in ink by a University employee holding expenditure authority for the sponsoring department.<\/p>\n<h5 id=\"exception\">3.1.e&nbsp; Exception to Policy (Network ID Changes)<\/h5>\n<p>Network IDs are considered permanent and are changed under certain circumstances only; for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name changes<\/li>\n<li>Poor initial selection of Network ID<\/li>\n<li>Personal privacy issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To request changes to a Network ID, complete the applicable fields in the Exception to Policy section near the bottom of the form. Alternatively, users may also call the Crimson Service Desk at 509-335-4357 during business hours.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the current Network ID under <strong>From<\/strong> in the <strong>Complete if changing Network ID<\/strong> line.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"three_2\">3.2&nbsp; Routing<\/h4>\n<p>Send the completed and approved form to Crimson Service Desk, mail code 1222.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"three_3\">3.3&nbsp; Security Administrator<\/h4>\n<p>ITS completes the requested action and notifies the requesting individual by interdepartmental mail, or by telephone if requested.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"four_0\">4.0&nbsp; Security<\/h3>\n<p>The security of network and computer services is partially dependent upon the actions of individual users. Each individual user is responsible for the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safeguarding the Network ID and password.<\/li>\n<li>Retaining the Network Services Account Request in a secure location.<\/li>\n<li>Not sharing the Network ID with others. ITS assigns a Network ID to an individual user.<\/li>\n<li>Immediately contacting the ITS Security Office if the confidentiality of a Network ID is compromised by telephone 509-335-4357 or e-mail <a href=\"mailto:abuse@wsu.edu\">abuse@wsu.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Not including any password in automated or preprogrammed logon procedures.
