University Executive Administrators have approved the following revision to the Executive Policy Manual.
EP15 Policy Prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment
This revision updates WSU’s policy in accordance with new federal Department of Education regulations. Revisions include the following:
- Clarifies the policy’s applicability and made it consistent for all cases.
- Highlights confidential and non-confidential reporting options available to complainants.
- Updates definition of supportive measures to provide greater authority to protect the safety of parties or the academic or work environment.
- Simplifies the informal resolution process to make it more accessible for parties.
- Removes the requirement for a written complaint to initiate a grievance process.
- Clarifies factors that may lead CCR to initiate a grievance process in the absence of a complaint.
- Adds the Office of the University Ombuds and peer health educators as confidential resources.
- Adds new reporting requirements for employees as required by Title IX.
- Adds new information sharing requirements for employees when students disclose pregnancy or related conditions as required by Title IX.
- Updates definitions of sex-based harassment as required by Title IX and the Clery Act.
